All we need is love

Today is Saint Valentine’s Day. A day many men dread, women anticipate and singles hate. While I think Valentine’s Day is more of a Hallmark kind of holiday I believe the spirit of it is good; that is to celebrate love. And, I don’t think we need to celebrate only being in love or loving our partner or lover. Instead, Valentine’s Day is a day to express our love for our fellow human being. Because really, as John Lennon said, “love is all you need”.

What if we took this day of love and made every day a day of love? What if we woke up and told our spouse, our roommate, our kids or our neighbor how much we appreciate them? What if instead of rudely gesturing at the slow driver, you passed them with care and waved at them? What if instead of being mad at your employee for taking a long break, you told them what a great employee they are and that you appreciate how hard they work? What if you paid for the person’s coffee in line behind you? What if we replaced anger, annoyance, jealousy, pettiness, etc. with love?

What can you do right now to let someone know you care about them?

Happy Valentine’s Day my friends!
